Currently reading:

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. I expected a tough read, but it’s actually not that bad, with the exception of the long names that I can’t pronounce. Luckily, Tolstoy repeats the full names with almost every reference, so that helps me keep the characters straight.

Chuck and I are reading it together, so we can discuss it together (and watch the movie when he gets home!) Supposedly it’s touted by some as one of the best novels of all time. We’ll have to see about that!

Goodbyes are never easy, but friendship really is forever @katyrobinette @emilyfulp…

…NC neighbors are moving to Key West! I’m not sure how sad I can really be with a destination like that though 😉

Celebrated my friend’s 30th birthday last night. We had a great time, but I could tell she had mixed feelings about it all. We have this notion that we’ll be in a “good place” by the time we are 30, but I’m beginning to think that good place must be at 40…

Of course, it doesn’t help that she is a highly educated young woman transplanted into a place where finding a decent job is about as difficult as my cat catching the laser beam. And she is by herself, with her husband deployed, no less.

But hopefully we were able to show her a memorable time in spite of it all! We have all been there (and are there now, just not 30 yet!)

Tropical Storm Andrea

I’m actually kind of excited to hunker down in my new abode and ride out the storm with Annie. I do wish my TV was hooked up so I could at least watch a movie, though. I have missed my Big Bang Theory marathons, but it’s looking like we can’t get cable while we’re here.

Everything is based on a 24-month contract, and we can only get satellite since I’m so rural. The provider was very unclear on whether military orders would get us out of the contract – and even if they said yes, the reviews I found indicate they are not honest about it.

Good thing I recently downloaded lots of books to read!
