Beautiful spring blooms at work yesterday! Now if only the warm weather would show up to stay… (at Great Wilmington Chamber Of Commerce)
What a dreary day today! I stayed in bed with the Bean till 11:15 this morning, because a) I can, and b) what else is there to do? I must say though – it was kind of nice, and Annie sure enjoyed it. I got a few fleeting and choppy moments over Gmail with Chuck while I ate breakfast. I can’t decide if those choppy moments are worth it, or if I’d just rather wait to hear from him when we can actually have an uninterrupted conversation.
It’s supposed to rain all day, so I may try to work out and clean. Or, maybe I’ll just continue to do nothing 🙂 There’s a women’s social at Chuck’s old Captain’s house tonight that I plan on showing up to, if it’s not too gross.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 62 and sunny (YES!) so I’m thinking I will take Annie to the beach in the afternoon. Gotta get her annual beach trip in before the tourists come! 🙂 She’s so funny at the beach!

It’s a gorgeous 75 degrees and sunny right now in jolly Holly Ridge. The windows are open and there is a light breeze. There are lovely golden and berry hues on my table, keeping me company while I catch up on some job apps and clean the house. I’m heading to work for a few hours, but maybe I can catch an early evening walk afterwards. Love this kind of weather!

“The other night while picking up groceries, Brendan decided to pick up flowers as well. He said it would be nice to wake up to them. It’s strange because I don’t like flowers, while most do. There is something morbid about them to me – that at the height of their beauty, they are actually dying. Which is funny because the Japanese actually think that mortality in itself is beautiful. The thought that something (to borrow a famous movie quote) will never be as lovely as it is today, in the present. That concept of fleeting beauty is beautiful in itself.
It reminded me of this other quote which could be applied to many other things in life besides flowers: if you only have two pennies left in this world, buy bread with one, and a flower with the other. Everything has something to offer.
And yes, he was right. They were a lovely sight this morning!”
